Backing up your ProofMaster / PrintFactory configuration
This article explains how you can backup your ProofMaster / PrintFactory configuration including all the printer settings and printer profiles that are used by that configuration.
It is recommended to follow this procedure after initial set up the software, and after every change in configuration.
Creating Backup Settings
- Launch the PrintFactory RIP or ProofMaster RIP.
- Select “Backup settings...” in the Edit menu.

- Choose a secure location to store your backup settings file. By default, the name if this file is backup_settings.zip.

- This backup settings file contains all your configured printers and queues. It also contains the printer profiles that are used in these queues. If you have created printer profiles that are currently not in use by any queue, you should also create a backup of the Calibration folder. This folder contains all the printer profiles available on your system.
On the Mac, the path of this folder is:
/Applications/PrintFactory 4/Calibration
or
/Applications/ProofMaster 4/Calibration
On Windows Vista or Windows 7, the path of this folder is:
C:\Users\Public\PrintFactory\Calibration
or
C:\Users\Public\ProofMaster\Calibration
On Windows XP, the path of this folder is:
C:\Program Files\PrintFactory 4\Calibration
or
C:\Program Files\ProofMaster 4\Calibration
Restoring Backup Settings
- Launch the PrintFactory RIP or ProofMaster RIP.
- Select “Restore...” in the Edit menu.

- Browse to the location of your backup settings file and select it.

- The PrintFactory RIP or ProofMaster RIP will ask to restart, and once that is done, your configuration is restored.
- If you had also created the additional backup of the Calibration folder, you should also restore that folder.
